A 24 hour patch test is required prior to waxing
Waxing is a method of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet. There are many types of waxing suitable for removing unwanted hair.
At The Retreat, we use cool wax, which is applied thinly over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is then pressed on the top and removed with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth. This removes the wax along with the hair.
There are many benefits to waxing versus other forms of hair removal. It is an effective method to remove large amounts of hair at one time.It is a long-lasting method. Hair in waxed areas will not grow back for two to eight weeks. When hair is shaved or removed by depilatory cream, the hair is removed at the surface rather than the root. Within a few days, the hair can be seen at the surface. With these methods, hair tends to grow back in a rough stubble. Areas that are repeatedly waxed over long periods of time often exhibit regrowth that is softer.

Threading is an ancient method of hair removal originating in the Eastern world. In more recent times it has gained popularity in Western countries. At The Retreat we use a pure, thin, twisted cotton thread which is rolled over untidy hairlines, moustaches and other areas of unwanted hair, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing, where single hairs are pulled out one at a time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a straighter line. As a larger area of hair is removed at once, however, it can be relatively painful.
Threading allows for a more precise, less irritating, chemical free, and lasting, hair removal experience.
Threading is kind to your skin.
One of the best features of threading is that it is suitable for even skin that is too sensitive for laser hair removal or waxing. And as no chemicals are involved there is no risk of a reaction setting in.
Threading only removes hair, not skin, and because it is so exact, it can remove hairs that are finer than those that can be removed by waxing or plucking.
Threading is also very fast -- sessions will only take about 15 minutes of your time
